Is Sachin unfairly criticised?
Sachin is criticised for his lack of triple hundred’s (his highest Test score is 248*). Yet the other great batsmen of this time: Ponting, Dravid, Kallis, Smith, have not achieved this milestone either. Indeed, Kallis doesn’t even have a double hundred.
Are the performances more important than the size of the score?. Does size matter lol? In short, does a batsman HAVE to score a triple hundred to be truly classified as great?
Well I do feel Sachin is unfairly criticized on that issue we all know how good he is and the other batsman you have referred to are as well. Although it is very disappointing that these great players have not got their head down and achieved that milestone and I would say getting a 300 in an innings is the ultimate achievement for any batsman in an innings and it shows they have put their great talent into motion in the heat of a test match.
No they do not have to score a triple hundred to be classed as legend it is just one of the many ticks in a checklist but it is a very big tick

Honestly , I havent seen Sachin of for that matter any batsmen just because they dont have a triple ton . And if he is , Its nonsense .
Sachin is one of the modern batting greats Along with Lara ………… and inspite of thier good records Ponting , dravid , kallis , smith etc arent comparable even if Ponting ends up with more test runs than sachin ( which I am sure he will do since India play only couple of tests every year ).
Although technically I love Dravid ( more than sachin ) and Kallis , when there’s movement on the pitch you can depend on these two .
Anyway not many players in the history have scored 300 and more than capability it depends on match situation for ex he could have score 300 in the match he was 248* but India had to declare to push for a win which is always more important .
So really , it doesnt matter triple ton or not .

could be that these players despite being all time greats lack the qualities required to play a gigantic innings,to last that long in a Test and get runs as well while at it,like Lara,Sehwag,Bradman,..
does a batsman HAVE to score a triple hundred to be truly classified as great? no
